Intuitive Machines Acquires Lanteris: Revolutionizing Space Technology & Services (2026)

Intuitive Machines Completes Acquisition of Lanteris Space Systems

The acquisition positions Intuitive Machines as a vertically integrated next-generation space prime contractor for commercial, civil, and national security space initiatives.

Intuitive Machines, Inc. (Nasdaq: LUNR), a leading space technology, infrastructure, and services company, has completed its acquisition of Lanteris Space Systems, formerly Maxar Space Systems. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Intuitive Machines, as it adds flight-proven manufacturing capabilities at scale to its existing strengths. With Lanteris, Intuitive Machines becomes a multi-domain, end-to-end solutions provider, capable of building spacecraft, connecting resilient communications and navigation networks, and operating systems across LEO, MEO, GEO, and cislunar space.

The acquisition was first announced on November 4, 2025, and was completed for $800 million before closing adjustments, consisting of $450 million in cash and $350 million in Intuitive Machines Class A common stock. Steve Altemus, CEO of Intuitive Machines, stated, 'This acquisition marks a defining moment in the evolution of Intuitive Machines. We have previously proven our ability to operate on the Moon. With Lanteris, we add flight-proven manufacturing at scale. Together, these strengths transform Intuitive Machines into a multi-domain, end-to-end solutions provider.'

Lanteris LEO, MEO, and GEO satellites support missile warning and tracking, tactical intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, Earth observation, and space domain awareness. Lanteris' rapid design and efficient manufacturing processes enable them to deliver solutions with speed and innovation, backed by a proven track record in space.

The acquisition aligns with Intuitive Machines' vision, strengthening its position as a vertically integrated next-generation space prime contractor. Chris Johnson, President of Lanteris Space Systems, expressed enthusiasm, stating, 'If we could have chosen the best outcome for Lanteris over the past few years, this is exactly what we would have envisioned.'

With the closing of this transaction, Intuitive Machines strengthens its ability to service future missions, including the Golden Dome, Space Development Agency layered architecture, NASA's Artemis and Lunar Terrain Vehicle initiatives, and Mars telecommunications missions.

Intuitive Machines is a diversified space technology, infrastructure, and services company focused on disrupting lunar access economics. In 2024, they successfully soft-landed the Nova-C class lunar lander on the Moon, returning the United States to the lunar surface for the first time since 1972. In 2025, they returned to the lunar south pole with a second lander. The company's products and services are organized into three pillars: Delivery Services, Data Transmission Services, and Infrastructure as a Service.
