FROZEN SOUL's New Album 'No Place Of Warmth': A Collaboration with Gerard Way (2026)

Brace yourselves! Texas death metal titans FROZEN SOUL are dropping their most monumental album yet, and they've brought a legend along for the ride!

Get ready to experience "No Place Of Warmth," the latest offering from Dallas's own FROZEN SOUL. This isn't just an album; it's described as a majestic and demanding collection of anthems that masterfully weave together raw ferocity with delicate melodies. Imagine soaring guitar leads illuminating a path through a dark chasm of relentless riffs – that's the sonic landscape FROZEN SOUL paints on their third full-length studio record. Across these tracks, the band delves into the grim territories of everyday struggles, surveying the aftermath of their triumphs and issuing an open letter to fans. It’s a powerful declaration that acknowledges life's chilling realities while simultaneously equipping listeners with the strength and motivation to overcome them.

But here's where it gets truly electrifying: The album's opener and title track, "No Place Of Warmth," features none other than Gerard Way from the iconic MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE! Vocalist Chad Green explains the song's profound message: "It's about life at its coldest and the choice you have to let it consume you, or to use it to find warmth in a world that feels void of it. Life is always coming at you, and death doesn't stop — you might slow it down, but it's always coming — so you have to make the best out of it and march on."

Visually, the concept of "No Place Of Warmth" is brought to life by director Brendan McGowen, with actor London Smith, who previously appeared in FROZEN SOUL's "Morbid Effigy," returning to embody Death. Green elaborates, "The lead character attempts to keep her dagger with rosary beads away from Death, as a stand to say we won't be afraid of what's coming and we will live happy with the memories and experiences of our time here."

And this is the part most people miss: The collaboration with Gerard Way wasn't a fleeting whim. Green shares, "We met Gerard a couple of years ago and have become friends. I knew he had a love for metal, so I spun the idea to him about singing in a FROZEN SOUL song and he was stoked! Gerard is an amazing artist and musician whose creative vision has shaped generations and more to come."

"No Place Of Warmth (feat. Gerard Way)" is available now on all digital platforms, following up their recent release of the 53-second anti-authoritarianism anthem, "Absolute Zero." Mark your calendars: "No Place Of Warmth" officially drops on May 8 via Century Media Records.

In just five years, FROZEN SOUL has carved out a significant space in the global extreme music scene with their in-your-face death metal. "No Place Of Warmth" is poised to be their most definitive and defiant record yet. At the core of it all is Chad Green, whose commanding vocals act as a spiritual guide, leading listeners through tales of relentless battles. Musically, the album is a staunchly death metal affair, drawing heavily from the aggressive spirit of hardcore punk while retaining their signature Texas-sized sound. They expertly blend classic American death metal influences like OBITUARY, CANNIBAL CORPSE, and MORTICIAN, with the early Earache label's raw power, reminiscent of CARCASS and BOLT THROWER.

"No Place Of Warmth" distills FROZEN SOUL to their rawest form – a seasoned unit of musicians who know exactly how to deliver a sonic assault. The result is a more menacing band, focused on shock and awe with a maximal minimalist approach. Across eleven new songs, FROZEN SOUL keeps it concise and impactful, prioritizing brutality without sacrificing memorable hooks. This album stands as a pinnacle for the band, showcasing flawless execution in line with genre-defining classics such as "Tomb Of The Mutilated," "Cause Of Death," "Heartwork," and "Hacked Up For BBQ."

Green reflects on their creative process: "Our mindset was to stop overthinking it and trying to write the most epic song."

While the title "No Place Of Warmth" might evoke images of desolate, frozen landscapes, the record offers a powerful counterpoint. "Each song on this record has its own meaning and influences that helped make them what they are, but in their essence are written to give the listener that extra push and power they need to fight those everyday battles. These songs are built to say 'We won't be swept away by its winds; we can and we will move forward,'" Green emphatically states.

This time, they've brought an impressive ensemble along for the journey. In addition to Gerard Way, the album features Devin Swank from SANGUISUGABOGG and Robb Flynn from MACHINE HEAD. While each collaborator brings their unique flair, the core of FROZEN SOUL remains the driving force.

Green emphasizes their collaborative approach: "Anytime we have features, it's with friends and bands that we love and respect who share the same feelings and emotion that we're trying to get across in the song. Gerard, Robb and Devin all added their own unique styles and love into the songs and really helped bring them to life. It was an absolute pleasure working with them."

For the production of "No Place Of Warmth," FROZEN SOUL enlisted the expertise of producer Josh Schroeder at Random Awesome Studios in Midland, Michigan, dedicating six weeks to the recording process. This session was unique, as the band entered the studio with a relatively blank slate, having channeled much of their creative energy into touring and previous recordings. This allowed them to write new material daily, working closely with Schroeder to refine the songs instinctively rather than overworking unfinished ideas.

Green recalls, "We took this opportunity to change and try new things — we would go into the basement of where we were staying and just write and immediately we started catching our groove."

FROZEN SOUL's fresh, theatrical take on old-school death metal has led to sold-out tours and support slots with esteemed bands like DYING FETUS, BLOOD INCANTATION, OBITUARY, AMON AMARTH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and NAPALM DEATH. Their breakout EP "Encased In Ice" (2019), followed by full-lengths "Crypt Of Ice" (2021) and "Glacial Domination" (2023), alongside their own festival, Wrecking Ball Metal Madness, and now "No Place Of Warmth," solidify FROZEN SOUL as a leading force in the next generation of metal. This April, they are set to embark on a US tour with AVATAR and FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE.
